These terms govern your use of Alcove, a journaling app for iPhone published by SandCollective (“we,” “us”). By downloading or using Alcove, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.

The app, and your content

Alcove is a private journal. Everything you write, record, or gather stays yours. We don't operate a server, we have no account system, and we never receive, store, or read your journal content — see the Privacy Policy for exactly how that works. Because your content lives on your device (and, if you enable sync, in your own iCloud as encrypted data we can't read), you are responsible for keeping your own backups. Use the app's Export and Backup features to keep a copy somewhere safe.

License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use Alcove on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies to your use of the app. Please don't reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except as that agreement or applicable law allows.

Purchases

Alcove is free to start, with a short free trial, and then a one-time unlock purchased through the App Store. There is no subscription and no third-party payments processor — purchases are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit, and we never see your payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple under the terms of the App Store.

Provided “as is”

We work hard to make Alcove reliable and true to what we promise, but the app is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SandCollective is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data that you did not keep a backup of.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
